Sara Wells Yearsley, 89 of Newark, DE, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Millcroft, Newark, DE. Born in Elkton, MD, on June 8, 1920, she was the daughter of the late R.K. and the late Emily (Simpers) Wells. She was the wife of the late John F. Yearsley who died in November, 1984. She retired in 1990 from the Sanford School after 25 years as the Director of Kindergarten. Mrs. Yearsley was a member of Winterthur Guild, St. Michaels Museum, Centerville School Advisory Board and Cecil County Historical Society. Survivors include her son: David Wells Yearsley and his wife Rebecca of Landenberg, PA; her grandchildren: Jacob A. Yearsley of Landenberg, PA and Ashley Altemus of Newark, DE; a great grandson: Sawyer Jacob Altemus of Newark, DE; and two nieces: Donna Melton and Patti Jones. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD where visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD. The family requests no flowers, however, memorial donations may be sent to the Sanford School Scholarship Fund, P.O.
