Scott Evans, 80, of the Country View section of White Township, Belvidere, NJ, formerly of Mt. Tabor, NJ passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011. Born on March 25, 1931 in Loghgelly, Scotland, he was the son of the late Andrew Scott Evans and Mary Meikle. Mr. Evans had worked as a Meat Manager at Foodtown in Denville, NJ for 27 years before retiring in 1993. Upon retiring to Belvidere, he worked with the Warren County Office on Aging and was the founder of the Chore Corps, served on the Warren County Advisory Board, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year Award. Scott had served in the British Army spending his time as a clerk in Singapore. He was a Master Mason with the Masonic Lodge. He had enjoyed golf, watching the New Jersey Devils, family genealogy, and was a talented amateur photographer who received many awards. Mr. Evans was very involved with the Boy Scouts, first as a leader then as Area Commissioner, receiving the highest adult leader award, the Silver Beaver. In addition to his parents, Scott was predeceased by his siblings, Margaret and Robert. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Margaret Johnson Evans; three children, Elizabeth Grosso (Michael), Andrew (Debbie Giltner), and James (Carolyn VanDuyne), grandchildren, Melissa, Bryan, Aimee, Laura, Christine, James, Matthew, and Sarah; two brothers, William and James. Scott was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
