Selma Abdelnour of Fort Collins died at her home on May 13, 2010. She was born on September 27, 1916 in Ogden, UT, to Lebanese immigrants, Ceasar Shaker and Lameza Elizabeth (Nackard) Malouf. She grew up in Brawley, CA, and attended school there. She married George J. Abdelnour in Brawley on November 18, 1934. He died August 31, 1986. While living in Brawley, Selma and George co-owned grocery stores, a liquor store, and a delicatessen. In Brawley, Selma belonged to the Soroptimus Club, Eastern Star, Women Aglow, the Brawley Women's Community Club and All Saints Episcopal Church. They lived in Brawley and Windsor, before retiring to Fort Collins in 1981. Selma was a founding member and intercessor of Holy Trinity Fellowship in Fort Collins. She was also a member of Fort Collins Women Aglow and Bible Study Fellowship for many years. She was a prior member of the St. Alban's Windsor Episcopal Church and of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fort Collins. Selma belonged to the Daughters of the King with the Episcopal Church. Selma was a Godly woman with boundless creativity, a hospitable, loving, compassionate soul who lived her Christian values. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, and four brothers. She is survived by sons, George J. Abdelnour (Wendy) of McMinnville, OR, and Joe W. Abdelnour (Louise) of Bullhead City, AZ; daughters, Jeanne Abdelnour of Fort Collins, CO, and Sarah Annette VanLoo of Greeley, CO; a brother, John Malouf (Mae) of Squim, WA; sisters-in-law Josephine Malouf of Fort Collins, CO and Jeanette Malouf of Scottsdale, AZ; 9 grandchildren, Brendhen, Scott, Andrew, John, Betony, Kimla, Brent, Dana, and Tatianna; 12 great-grandchildren, Nick, Ryan, Juliana, Ari, Elias, Grace, Jacob, Samuel, Gabriel, Gabriela, Michael, and Sophia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. Monday, with a Prayer Service and Personal Sharings at 5:30, at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home. Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow the committal service at the Resthaven Reception Center.
