Sgt. Major Charles T. Foreman, USMC (Ret.), 83, of the 400 block of Lake Crest Drive, Chesapeake, VA, passed away January 21, 2012, in Chesapeake, VA. A native of New York City, he was the son of the late Eugene and Dorothy Foreman. He retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1974 as a Sgt. Major after 30 years of service. He also taught for 18 years at the Albany Academy for Boys where he was a drill instructor and was a Lt. Col. in the New York State Militia. He was a member of Doric Masonic Lodge #44 AF&AM, Past Patron of the Berkley Chapter #52, Order of the Eastern Star, Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Temple of the Shrine and Victory Chapter #16, Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, M. Evelyn Foreman; a daughter, Terri Foreman Hardin and husband Ben of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons, Eugene Thomas Foreman and wife Joyce of Denver, NC and Thomas Gilbert Foreman of Schenectady, NY; a sister, Katherine J. Fleischer of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren, Amy, Christopher, Jennifer, Rodger and Noah; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Angel Foreman Hartman. A funeral service with Eastern Star and Masonic Rites will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel with Rev. William L. Jones and Dr. David Denny officiating. The burial with full military honors will follow in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
