Sheila Marie Brown, born August 21, 1920, died August 16, 2011. Funeral Service for Sheila will be held on Sunday, August 21st, at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 251 E. Lake Brantley Road, Longwood, Florida 32779, at 2 PM with Father Paul McQueen officiating. Visitation for friends will be held on Saturday, August 20th from 12 - 3 PM at the West Altamonte Chapel of the Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 90 Weathersfield Ave., Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714. Sheila will be buried at Arlington Cemetery.

Sheila Brown is survived by her loving son, Jeffrey M. Brown, grandson, Dylan J. Brown and her brother, Bill Lawler and her sister-in-law Yones Lawler. Sheila is preceded in death by her husband, Col (Ret) Harry C. Brown, and their sons, Capt. David C. Brown, U.S. Army and Lt. (SG) Roger C. Brown, USNA and brother, John Lawler and sisters, Peggy Beaudin Margeson and Margery Eldridge. Sheila was born in Fort Sheridan, Illinois and attended Highland Park High School graduating in 1938. Upon graduation, Sheila worked with Illinois Bell Telephone as an Operator. With the beginning of WWII, Sheila was transferred to Washington D.C. to work in the Russian Embassy. Upon marrying her husband, Harry C. Brown, Sheila became a loving mother of three sons and a military wife traveling the world, both domestically and internationally, inclusive of Fort Mills, Cal; Okinawa; West Point, NY; Heidelberg, Germany; Fort Bliss, TX; Fort Monroe, VA; Izmir, Turkey and Fort Meade, MD; before retiring to Longwood, Florida in 1971.

In Florida, Sheila became a Real Estate Realtor in residential sales and quickly became one of the top ten salespersons in Central Florida. Sheila was always very active in each community she lived and provided community service, as Chairman / President to charitable organizations such as United Way and Femmes de Coeur. As a member of the Rotary Club, Sheila was honored twice with the Paul Harris Fellow award for service above self. And as always Sheila supported her church, the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection where she is one of the founding members.
Sheila Brown will be remembered as woman of compassion and spirit in everything she did with a smile. Whenever asked how she is doing, the answer was always “I’m Fine”. She was an exemplary member of the “Greatest Generation”. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Brede – Wilkins Scholarship Fund, which helps deserving individuals achieve a higher education.
