JANESVILLE---Shelley J. Hoium, age 41, of Janesville, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Madison on March 14, 1970, the daughter of Richard and Jean (Etterlie) Hoium. Shelley graduated from Janesville Craig High School in 1988 and received her Associates degree in Dental Assisting from Blackhawk Technical College. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and numerous military auxiliary groups including: Kienow Hilt Post 1621 VFW Auxiliary, Life Member of VFW National Home for Children, Past President of Junior Girls Unit at Kienow Hilt Post 1621, American Legion #209 Auxiliary, Fleet Reserve Association, and the Military Order of Cooties Auxiliary. Shelley also enjoyed crafting and bead work. She is survived by her parents, Richard and Jean Hoium of Janesville; 3 brothers: Dwight (Tammy) Hoium of Janesville, Vincent (Beth) Hoium of Moyock, NC, and Karl (Angie) Hoium of Waukesha; nieces and nephews: Danielle (Vinnie) Day, Tori and Ryan Hoium; great niece and nephew, Kahlan and Vincent Day; special aunt, Darlene (Robert) Hoium of Beloit; numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and other relatives, including her biological mother, Eunice Simonson and her family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; infant brother; and her biological father. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH with Rev. Naomi Garber officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH. Memorial donations may be made to either the VFW Auxiliary Cancer Fund or to First Lutheran Church. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY is assisting the family.
