Shelly Francene Richardson, 44, Arkansas City, died Friday, December 11, 2009, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas, after battling breast cancer. The family will greet family and friends at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home from 6 pm to 8 pm Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 17, 2009, at 10:00, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Parker Cemetery. Shelly was born November 1, 1965 in Wichita, Kansas, to Bob R. & Gloria J. Jackson, Americus, Kansas. In 1984, Shelly graduated from Emporia High School, Emporia, Kansas. She attended Mid-America Nazarene University, Olathe, KS. Shelly married Phillip "Scott" Richardson April 5, 1985 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Emporia, KS. Scott and Shelly moved to Arkansas City in 1988. Shelly worked for Home National Bank. Shelly quit the bank and dedicated her life to her family and friends. Shelly enjoyed being a fulltime homemaker and mother, homeschooling her two daughters, and running the family owned R & R Carwash. Shelly was an active member of the Northside Baptist Church. Shelly enjoyed watching her daughters play sports and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Phillip "Scott" Richardson; daughters, Kaleigh F. Richardson and Kelsey R. Richardson, all of the home; parents, Bob R. & Gloria J. Jackson, Americus, Kansas; brother, Jeffrey C. (Cindy) Jackson, Burns, Kansas; sisters, Christine R. (Duane) Parks, Miller, Kansas, Janis L. (David) Cox, Lyndon, Kansas, Marla J. Jackson, Wichita, KS; 7 nephews; 6 nieces; 7 great nieces; 1 great nephew. Shelly was preceded in death by her grandparents, William F. & Mary Delfs, Wichita, KS; and Percy & Jessie Jackson, Emporia, KS. A memorial has been established for Kaleigh's and Kelsey's college education fund. Contributions can be made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
