Private family graveside services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, McMinnville. Sherman was born on December 24, 1921 in Comanche, OK to the parents of Roy Addison and Emma Leonard Kennedy. He grew up in Comanche, OK. At the age of 15 he drove across the country in his Model A Ford to Porterville, California to live with an aunt. Sherman was drafted into the Army in December of 1942, serving in Germany and France, part of the Liberation of Dakau. He was Honorably Discharged on December 27, 1945. After his discharge, he worked as a self-employed cattle buyer. He married Matdeen Akins in Las Vegas, NV on May 1, 1946. They moved to Amity in 1946 before settling in McMinnville in 1951. He enjoyed camping and especially his morning walks with his wife, dressed alike, holding hands. Sherman also enjoyed being with family and breakfast at McDonalds. He is survived by his wife Matdeen of McMinnville; daughter Betty (Gene) Seifert of McMinnville; brother Roy Kennedy, Jr. of Duncan, OK; sisters Mazelle Northington of Norman, OK and JoAn King of Duncan, OK; Grandsons Mark Seifert (Amanda) of Dundee and Michael Seifert of McMinnville and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Margetta Gilbert. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o Macy & Son.
