Sherry Lynn Mims Jiménez, RN, MSN, born May 19, 1948, went to be with our Lord on October 1, 1012, at the age of 64. She was a beloved mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents Forrest and Ollieve Mims. She is survived by her children Daniel Angel Jiménez and Amy Rebecca Jiménez Marquez, and three grandchildren, Jackson, Katie and Sabrina. Married for 30 years to Angel R. Jiménez, Sherry and Angel met while he was a resident and she was a student nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital in 1967. Angel served as a medic in Viet Nam, and the two were married while he was on leave in Hawaii in 1968. They parted ways in 1998 and remained on friendly terms. Sherry Lynn was a pioneer of childbirth education. One of the first people in the state of Texas to teach Lamaze, she wrote several ground-breaking books, including The Pregnant Woman's Comfort Guide. She also authored a multitude of articles, both commercial and professional. Through her career she helped hundreds of couples deliver healthy babies naturally. Visitation will begin Thursday, October 4, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Mission Park North Funeral Home at 3401 Cherry Ridge. On Friday, October 5 at 10:00am, her family and friends will conduct a church service at Parkhills Baptist Church at 17747 San Pedro Avenue. Graveside services will follow at Mission Park Retama at 15940 Lookout Road.
