U no right now wud be a great time 2have nanny around2make this whole situation change4me but 4today i will settle4daddy,lol, but he aint got that touch so it'll be hard2make it pass as nanny but her JOY she left behind4me from raisin me until i married my husband,i will never4get her no way possible,RIP ,U are missed ever day,never a moment goes by wen i dont have a new story2tell about sumthing she did or said,hope u r at peace now with ur new world...luv u nanny EULER!!!!

It is hard to believe Shirley is gone. She was always smiling and fun.God bless her family and friends. My prayers are for you.

I will never forget her! I started working with her in 1991 at Dairy Queen and we worked mornings together. We had so much fun talking, laughing, and carrying on! She was such a fun person to be around! I will have you all in my thoughts and prayers!

I want to thank the family for allowing me the opportunity of performing her funeral service. It was very meaningful in view of the fact that I remembered Ms. Shirley from my "growing up days" in Belhaven (well, almost...I was actually from Greater Metropolitan PONZER, NC)...but I went to school at good of JAW and I recall many times being in Shirley's presence.

As I tried to portray her during the Memorial Service, she was truly always a person of "JOY".

As I tried to portray her during the Memorial Service, she was truly always a person of "JOY". She seemed to thrive on meeting and greeting folks on the streets and sidewalks in town. And heaven forbid, the she would see you actually inside one of the stores with only ONE DOOR OF ESCAPE....you might as well have known you were in for a good 15-30 minutes or more of listening to all her wonderful stories about her family and friends. You could not escape it....and when you finally were "released", you walked away all the better for the encounter and if you did catch some of that "contagous JOY", it was your own fault because you had been in the presence of the epidomy of real, honest-to-goodness old fashioned JOY.

So thank you again for allowing me to be a part of her "fare-well". I know you will miss her. My prayer is, that you as her family, will hold each other close in love, peace and JOY. THAT'S THE WAY SHIRLEY WOULD WANT IT!

Nick, Robert & Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your mom passing, but just be consoled in the fact that she is in a better place and you had her love for all your lives. Nick, I am so glad that you were here for her and I hope that you have learned that "there is no place like home". I've missed you too. You're almost a replica of your mom as for keeping a positive outlook on life, no matter what hand you were dealt. Robert, you are the quiet one, and I know that you've grown to be a responsible man. Both of you need to remember your mom will live on with all of us who knew and loved her. In the meantime, take care of yourselves and each other and let me hear from you once in a while. Life is becoming much too short to let good friends slip away without letting them know the value of what we mean to each other.

i knew shirley when she really young. we both were from belhaven and as a kid,i used to go to her mom's little grocery store.mrs nellie's as it was known then. i have bought a many of chocolate ice cream cones from there.i knew her mother and father and her brother,russell,a long time ago.my prayers are with her family at this most diffucult time.
