Shirley (Sue) Flanagan Rea, 69, of Norfolk, VA, died Friday, December 23, 2011. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a courageous, two-year battle against cancer. Shirley is survived by her husband of 48 years, Arthur M. Rea; and their children, Arthur M. Rea, Jr. and wife Maria Rea, Julie Rea Morgan and husband Paul Morgan, Jr., and Nicole Rea Ormond and husband Damien Ormond. She was the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren, Jordan, Jake, Justin, Austin, Grant, Melina, Michael, and Damien, Jr. Shirley is also survived by a sister, Carol Marino; and many dear friends. She retired from Norfolk Public Schools after 28 years of service and enjoyed traveling, gardening, and being with her friends and family. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Kempsville Chapel of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 1485 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Shirley may be made to The Dwelling Place, Union Mission Ministries, the lung Cancer alliance, The American Cancer Society, or the Vietnam Veterans of America. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
