Shirley Mitchell, 82 passed away June 12, 2013. She was a resident of Greenwood. She was born February 22, 1931 in Greenwood to the late Earl and Viola (Richey) Richarson.

She is survived by her children, Kathy L. Brooks, Mike (Terri) Mitchell, Chris (Terri) Mitchell, and Tim (Melissa) Mitchell; sisters, Phyllis Day and Earlene Reinhard; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Mitchell, Jr. and three grandchildren, Matthew Benjamin Mitchell, Gwen Nikki Mitchell, and Brandon Michael Mitchell.

Shirley worked for the Greenwood Co-Op, Johnson County Court House, Greenwood Fire Department, and 11 years for Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church.

She loved gardening, bowling, crafts, and taking trips with her sisters and friends.

A service will be conducted at 2:00pm Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. Friends may call from 12:00 – 2:00pm. Shirley will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children, 702 Barnhill Dr., Rm 1960, Indianapolis, IN 46202 or the American Lung Association, 115 W. Washington St, Suite 1180-South, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
