Shirley May (Cunningham) Wolf, 79, of Argos, Indiana, passed away peacefully, at her home in the country with her family by her side, on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Shirley was born on January 30, 1932, to Otto and Evelyn (Hunt) Cunningham in South Bend, Indiana. She spent most of her childhood in La Porte, Indiana. When she turned 17 her family moved to South Bend. She graduated from Riley High School in the Class of 1952. Art and drawing were her passions throughout high school and her entire adult life. Shirley and Julius Vadas, Jr. were married on May 16, 1953. Together they had one child, Jesse. On January 5, 1963, she married George John Wolf. She was mother to Marjorie Beth Wolf, whose mother was deceased. Together they had one child, Jennifer. Shirley worked at South Bend Toy, until its closing, after which she worked at Bendix. She retired as Deputy Clerk Treasurer for the Town of Argos. She was an active member of Saint Michael Catholic Church, Argos Progress Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Heartland Artists, a Marshall County 4-H Leader, a Boy Scout Leader, and an avid supporter of the Marshall County Humane Society. She enjoyed fishing, drawing, painting, spending time with her family and her pets, attending plays and musicals with her sister, and taking family vacations. She loved watching her grandchildren participate in sports and dance. She was never hesitant to talk "a little smack" with the opposing fans. She supported her team outright. Shirley was a dedicated, loving mother, who would do anything for her children. She always made sure that everyone was taken care of. Shirley is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Cunningham) Anderson of South Bend; her daughters, Marjorie Beth (Tim) Stein and their children, Harmony, Gemini, Beth, Abidan, and Brutus of Chillicothe, Ohio; Jennifer (Boyd) Hollabaugh and their children, Chelse, Zachary, and Maxwell Bailey, and Kelsie and Cody Hollabaugh of Argos; her son, Jesse (Janice) Vadas and their children, Trevor and Leah Vadas of Carmel, Indiana; and her friend, Bob Green, of Argos. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Otto Cunningham; her brother, Richard Cunningham; her husband, George John Wolf; and two grandchildren. Shirley's family would like to thank the nurses from Hope Hospice for the extraordinary care they gave to Shirley while she fought this last battle. Special thanks to Nurse Amy Shaffer and Fatima Zayed her nighttime caregiver. These angels were so loving and compassionate with her care. For that, her family is extremely grateful.
