On June 28, 2010, our beautiful “Roses” left her body. Born on April 9, 1993, she was only 17, but lived life to its fullest. We are envisioning a joyful reunion with her grandmother, Patty, and our other beloved, departed family members. She is loved and cherished by her family; mother and father, Anne-Marie and Kent Barton; sister, Tessa and brothers, Chas, Luke and Cole; her grandparents, Harbin Googe and David and Dawna Barton; as well as her large extended family and many friends.

Sophie and her sister Tessa have received much acclaim for their amazing singing and songwriting talents and have been performing throughout Utah as well as other western states. Dean White, owner of the Euphonic Music School, said, “Sophie Barton had a great voice and a great love of music. In the last year or two, she had really come into her own as a songwriter and performer . . . she was on her way to such great things”. You can watch and hear her sing on MySpace.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at the Salt Lake Holladay South Stake Center, 4917 Viewmont St., at 12:30 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to join the family at the Stake Center from 10:00 a.m. to noon to share in honoring her life and remembering.

Sophie Rose
with your smile as big as the moon
you were such a bright light
when we looked at you
we saw what was possible
we remembered who we are

in this three dimensional illusion
your spirit embodied matter
filled it with light
and your beautiful voice stirred us into remembering
our own sacred nature, our oneness.

No words will suffice.
We are missing you.
