Hinsdale, N.H.- Stella Z. Butynski, 97, of River Road, a lifelong resident of Hinsdale died Thursday morning, August 16, 2012 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Butynski was born in Hinsdale on February 20, 1915, the daughter of William and Tekla (Janczyszyn) Zavorotny. She was raised and educated in Hinsdale graduating from Hinsdale High School with the class of 1932. While attending high school she enjoyed acting in school plays and dancing. She had been employed at the concession stand at Hinsdale Raceway and had previously worked at the former Tempstat Manufacturing in Hinsdale and at the former H.Margolin Pocketbook Shop in Brattleboro. In her earlier years she had worked at a print shop in Hinsdale. A devout Catholic Mrs. Butynski was a longtime communicant of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church. Of her pastimes and interests she enjoyed time shared with her family, friends and care takers. She also enjoyed flowers & her home at which she resided for 95 of her 97 years. She was married to William Butynski in the mid 1930's at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church. Her husband predeceased her on November 6, 1948. Survivors include one son, William Butynski of Hinsdale, and four grandchildren, Sonya Merkle of Columbia, MD, Sara George of Mt. Airy, MD, William Butynski of Harpers Ferry, WV and Michael Butynski of Chillicothe, OH. Additionally she leaves four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother Peter Zavorotny. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church in Hinsdale with the Very Rev. Richard O'Donnell, V.F. pastor of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Following the committal rites a reception will be held in the fellowship room at the church. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Butynski's name may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 35 Brattleboro Road, Hinsdale, NH 03451, or to the Monadnock Humane Society, P.O. Box 678, West Swanzey, NH 03469 or to Rescue Inc., P.O. Box 593, Brattleboro, VT 05302.
