Stephen M. Radzik, 89, passed away after a brief illness at U-Mass Memorial Center on June 24, 2011. He was born August 26, 1921 in South Grafton, the son of Alexander and Anna (Ratkiewicz) Radzik, and lived there all his life. He graduated from Worcester Boy's Trade High School in 1940 and served in World War II aboard the USS Bennington as an Aviation Boatswain Mate 3rd Class. He served in the Asian Pacific Theater and participated in the invasion of Japan. Mr. Radzik worked for 45 years at Norton Company and Warner & Swasey, employed as a foreman and machinist retiring in 1985. Mr. Radzik is a Plank Owner in the US Navy Memorial in Washington, DC and a member of St. James Parish. His wife of 46 years, Dorothy Turner Radzik, died in 1993. He leaves a brother, William; a sister, Mary; 4 nieces, Janis Oehmann and her husband Andrew, Carol Radzik, Nancy Radzik, and Joyce Pagonis and her husband James; a great-niece, Jessica Pagonis; and his godchild, Maureen Brady and her husband James. His brother, Edmund Radzik, predeceased him. The family asks in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to St. James Church Memorial Fund, 89 Main St. S. Grafton MA 01560 or to a charity of the donor's choice. Funeral Mass & Visitation All are invited to a public calling hour on Thursday, July 7, 2011, from 9:30 -10:30 am at the RONEY FUNERAL HOME SOUTH GRAFTON CHAPEL, 124 Main Street, South Grafton, MA 01560, prior to the celebration of his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. James Church, 89 Main St. in South Grafton. He will then be laid to rest with Military Honors at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Northbridge, MA.
