Steven Arlin Nelson, 60, Bismarck, entered eternal rest on June 3, 2010. His life was cut short due to a tragic automobile accident while heading to one of his favorite fishing spots.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Word of Faith Church in Bismarck with Pastor Duey Heid and Pastor Dom Vetter officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 PM at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery.

Steven was born on February 2, 1950, the fourth child of Arlin and Violet (Zacharis) Nelson. He was raised and attended school in the Bowbells area and graduated from Bowbells High School in 1968.

Following graduation, Steven joined the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Thompson. After his tour of duty, he spent most of his years working on ranches in Nebraska, Wyoming, and Colorado.

It was in Kenmare that he met and fell in love with Gay Larsen; they were married on April 21, 2001, and a few years later moved to Bismarck.

Steven’s hobbies included fishing, pinochle, reading westerns, and spending time with his family and friends.

Steven is survived by his wife, Gay of Bismarck; his stepson, Joey (Teresa) of Augusta, GA; his nephew, Richard (Rosetta) Poline of Bismarck; his nieces, Katherine Poline of Minot, ND, Belinda (John) Moen of Powers Lake, ND, Esther (Mike) Lewter of Chicago, IL, Latecia (Ruzhdi) Memeti of Chicago, IL, and Ardis-Mary (Jason) Wedel of Minot, ND; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Paige and Austin Moen, Andrew and Ariane Moore, and Alisa and Alit Memeti.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Marjorie Hansen, Arlene Nelson, and Noreen Poline.
