Steven R. Smith, 58, of Coal Valley, IL died on Wednesday, December 7th, 2011 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Holiday Inn at 226 17th Street, Rock Island, IL from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2011. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Steven was born on June 14, 1953 in Casey, IL to Russell and Hazel M. (Jaynes) Smith. He married Jean Slater on December 21, 1973 in Rock Island, IL. Steven was an instructor for auto collision repair with Scott Community College. He loved golf and building things with his hands. Steven was a past member of IHHA and USTA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sherry.
