Sue M. Young departed this life June 14, 2009, in Spiro, Oklahoma. She was born December 24, 1923, to Edward George (Ed) and Beulah (Blackman) (Bo) McClain. She loved her husband, her children, her job and her rural life. She also had had a lifelong love of playing and composing music.She graduated from Spiro High School in 1941, then attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, transferred to the University of Oklahoma and graduated from OU in 1945 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and Accounting. While at OU she was the secretary to the Dean of the OU Law School and the organist for the First Episcopal Church. She married Larry B. Young in Norman, Oklahoma on April 22, 1944.She began her career in education in a one-room schoolhouse on the outskirts of Tonkawa, Oklahoma in 1946 and then taught in Coolidge, Arizona for three years. Her tenure in the Spiro School System spanned from 1955 through 1984 where she taught commerce classes (typing, shorthand, booking and business law) and administered the grade school music program.She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joshua McClain Young and her sister, Alice Jayne Rogers.She is survived by her husband of 65 years whom she said was the love of her life, Larry B. Young, Sr., three sons, Larry B. Young, Jr. and wife, Maylene of Poteau, Oklahoma, Ted Young and wife, Jeanne of Joplin, Missouri and Lance Young of Spiro, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Jessica Sousa and husband, Phil of Republic, Missouri, John Young of Joplin, Missouri and Jennifer Uro and husband, Anthony of Wilmington, Delaware and five great grandchildren, Joshua and Linda Uro, Braxton, Brysta and Brayton Shatswell.
