Rose, Susie M. – of Flushing, age 92, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Mrs. Rose's son, Pastor Walt Rose, will officiate. Burial in Riverside Cemetery in Millersburg, MI on Friday at 2 PM. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-9 PM and on Thursday from 10AM until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Susie was born August 19, 1919 in Millersburg, Michigan to the late George and Lorena (Banta) Russell. She married Willard E. Rose on June 4, 1938. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1967. Susie had resided in Flushing the past 65 years. She was employed at the Children's Juvenile Detention Center in Flint and Wallis Supper Club for many years. She was a current member of Bethel Baptist Church and was active in their food ministry. Mrs. Rose served as a foster parent to over 86 children with the REACH program. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking, baking and spending time with her family.
Surviving are: 7 children: Helen Rose of TX., Shirley (William) Wirgau of Flushing, Walt (Dolores) Rose of Flushing, Virginia Salyers of Clio, Robert "Joe" Rose of Flushing, Kay (John) Welch of Burton and Kathy Shanks of Flushing. Many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Brother: Bill Russell; Sisters: Shirley (Alvin) Zampich, Marie (Linwood) Saban, Louise Darga and Bertha (Don) Mercer. Daughters in law: Sondra Rose of Clio, Pam Rose of Mt. Morris and Pam Rose of Ionia. Mrs. Rose was also preceded in death by 4 sons: Henry, Willard, Harry and Francis and son in law: Donnie.
