Suzanne E. Commers, 82, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born in Bluffton, IN, Suzanne worked as a market researcher with Dennis Research for 25 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of Fort Wayne Baptist Church (First Baptist). Suzie was a lifetime member of Eastern Star, and the Parent Teacher Association. She was chairman of the PTA Council Clothing Bank for 15 years. She served as past president of the PTA for both Merle J. Abbett Elementary and Ben F. Geyer Jr. High Schools in the 60's and 70's. Suzie loved her family and friends and cherished her grandchildren. A special thank you to Pam and Dee and Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home for their kindness and care. Surviving are her son, Rick (Judy) Commers, of La Porte, daughters, Jodi Commers of Bedford, TX, Beth Coia of Evans, GA, grandchildren, Christen and Courtney Commers of Laporte, Nick Coia of Atlanta, GA, brothers, Richard Garrett of Chicago, IL, Tom (Joyce) Garrett of Bluffton, and many nieces and nephews. Suzanne was preceded in death by husband, Raymond R. Commers, Sr., parents Alonzo and Francis Garrett, brothers, Frank, Robert and William Garrett, sisters, Betty Lou and Betsy Noe, and son-in-law, Sam C. Coia. Service is 11:00 AM, January 13, 2011 at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue with calling one hour prior to service. Calling at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 12, 2011 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
