Ted Nickel , 93, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012. He was born in Mountain Lake, MN August 1, 1918. He received his Bachelors degree in Sociology from Wheaton College, in 1945; his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Emporia State University,; his P.H.D. in 1980 from Walden University. He taught school at the Berean Academy, Elbing, KS; the Meade Academy, Meade, KS and was principal at Central Christian High School, Hutchinson, KS; He was professor & Chairman of Department of Teacher Education at Ft. Wayne Bible College and Summit Christian College for 25 years retiring in 1987. After his retirement he worked as a part-time associate for D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home for 15 years. He was an active member of First Missionary Church where he served as a deacon, Adult Sunday School Supt., Director of Christian Education and Adult Sunday School teacher; former member of Visiting Nurse Advisory Board for 10 years; Fort Wayne Christian School Education Committee Member; Former Board Member of Fort Wayne Christian School - 9 years; Phi Delta Kappa member. Surviving are his loving wife of 64 1/2 years, Rose Ann Nickel of Fort Wayne, IN ; daughter, Janet E. Nickel of Freetown Sierra Leone West Africa son, David B. (Rev. Rebecca) Nickel of Indianapolis, IN; Granddaughters Austin and Emma, son, Gordon D. (Ann Marie) Nickel of Grand Rapids, MI; Granddaughters Rebecca ,Christina and grandson Landon. He was preceded in death by parents David and Maria Nickel and brother Walter Nickel. Service is 11:30 AM Saturday January 28, 2012 at First Missionary Church, 701 W. Rudisill Blvd. with calling 1 1/2 hours prior to service with Rev. Joe Snider officiating . Calling also 2-5 and 7-9 pm Friday D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to
