Mrs. Teodora S. Layon, a resident of Saugus for 23 years, died on Friday August 26, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at the Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wakefield. She was 98 years old.

Teodora was born in Dinalupihan, Bataan, Philippines on April 15, 1913, one of five children of the late Casamiro Sandoval and Dominga (Enriques) Sandoval.

She was raised and educated in the Philippines and was well known as someone who would help you and care for you physically and spiritually. She was an active participant for the Catholic Women League (CWL) and a volunteer for the school children in The Philippines.

Teodora was the beloved wife of the late Victoriano Layon with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Purification Bernacki of Saugus, Resty Layon of CA, Encarnacion "Karen" Bernaldo of Saugus, Leonardo Layon of FL, Armando Layon of Billerica, Noe Layon of FL, Melchor Layon of Brockton, and the late Modesto Layon and Daniel Layon. Dear sister of Elsa Dabu of the Philippines and the late Andres Sandoval, Liwayway Sandoval, and Sebastian Sandoval. Also lovingly survived by 23 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Monday September 5 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in honor and remembrance of Teodora's life in Blessed Sacrament Church, Summer St., Saugus at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Sunday from 2-6 PM. Interment will be in the Philippines.
