THAIR Q SCHNEITER
Oct. 27, 1934 - Nov. 6, 2010
Thair Q Schneiter passed away November 6, 2010. Our beloved sweetheart, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend will be missed by all who knew him for his generosity, humor and unique approach to life.
Thair was born October 27, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to George H. Schneiter and Bernice S. Malan. He was the youngest of three siblings. When he was eight, his parents moved to Salt Lake City.
Throughout his life, Thair enjoyed playing golf. His father, George Schneiter Sr. was the head pro at several country clubs, the Chairman of PGA tournaments and a leading professional on the PGA tour. Thair often caddied for his father during these tournaments, which developed within him a lifelong love of the sport. He later became an assistant pro at Lake Hills Country Club in Billings, Montana. So great was his love of golf that he believed it was the one game played in Heaven. (Here’s to a round of hole-in-ones, dad).
Thair attended South High School and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Sociology. He played golf for the university. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Eastern States Mission. Later, Thair was a partner in Glenmoor Golf Course and was an active real estate and business investor.
In 1970, he married Louisa Park with whom he had three daughters: Michelle, Tamara and Bernice (deceased). Thair’s children were his pride and joy. He dedicated his life to his girls, taking Tamara to daily skating lessons and coaching Michelle in golf. Thair loved to travel and spent much time with family visiting Asia, South America and Europe.
Thair is preceeded in death by his parents, his older brother George Schneiter, Jr. (“Gery”) and his daughter Bernice Schneiter. He is survived by Louisa; his daughters, Michelle (Jeffrey) and Tamara, both of Los Angeles; his sister, Cheryl Ann White of Salt Lake City and his granddaughters Olivia, Soleil and Georgia Grace Schneiter Nerdin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13th, 12:00pm at the Holladay 25th Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4650 S. Naniloa Dr., Holladay, Utah. The viewing will take place from 10:00 - 11:45am at the ward building. Interment will be in the Holladay Cemetery. Arrangements are made under the direction of Cottonwood Mortuary. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.memorialutah.com.
