Theda Ransom was the fifth of seven children born to the union of Edward W. and Amanda Levy. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 2, 1914. She was educated in St. Louis Public Schools. She was employed in her early years at Alpers Clothing Store in downtown St. Louis. Theda became an expert seamstress and enjoyed many years continuing to develop her skill. She was a long time member of the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church. Theda helped for years with the altar boys and with Boy Scout Troops. She enjoyed bingo, television shows – The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. On August 14, 1947, she was united in holy matrimony to George David Ransom and of this union a son, George Edward and a daughter, Shirley Marie were born. Theda was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Preceding her in death were both parents, brothers, Alfred and Edward, sister, Lucille, Edna and Mary Jane, and her son George Edward. Theda leaves to mourn: daughter, Shirley Marie Ransom; sister, Geraldine Gantt; grandchildren, Tracy and Leon Ransom; great-grandchild, Isabelle; nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
