Thelma Jean (Thompson) Oliver, 88, of Greencastle, PA, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Born April 18, 1923 in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of James A. and Jane E. (Ellison) Thompson. She spent her early life in the New Castle area. Thelma graduated from New Castle Senior High School with the class of 1941. She then attended Hagerstown Junior College. She worked at Fort Ritchie as a civilian for 23 years in the accounting department Thelma was a member of Greencastle Presbyterian Church. She is survived by four children: Richard Oliver, (and his wife, Janet), Mount Joy, PA, Barbara Barnhart, (and her husband, Paul), Northampton, PA, Beverly Bream, (and her husband, Joe), Hanover, PA and Ronald Oliver, (and his wife, Stacy), Greencastle, PA; twelve grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Agnes Morris, New Castle and Barbara Tate, Hermitage, PA and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: James and William Thompson. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 20, 2012 at Greencastle Presbyterian Church, 57 West Baltimore Street, Greencastle, with Rev. Taylor Camerer officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 South Washington St., Greencastle.
