Sister Theresa "Tinka" Crowe was born on November 16, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Mr. Upshur Melvin Hall and Ms. Elizabeth Drakeford. Her family moved to Camden, South Carolina in 1959 and eventually settled in Paterson, New Jersey. She attended public schools graduating from Eastside High School in 1966. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Crowe Sr. and became the proud parents of three wonderful children. Theresa accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. While living in Paterson, she became a member of Gilmore Memorial Tabernacle Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Clarence and Reverend Doctor Allene Gilmore. While there she was a member of the choir, Young Women Christian Council, Sunday School and Inter Denominational Women's Conference. Theresa was committed to serving her church and community. As a member of the Domestic Violence Response Team, in October 2000 and 2004, she was recognized by the State of New Jersey and the City of Paterson for civic contributions. She provided referral assistance, resources and other services to victims of domestic violence. Theresa also opened her own home and provided care and a loving, stable environment for people with developmental disabilities. In November 2000, she was subsequently awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities. After early retirement in 2005 from State Farm Insurance Company, Theresa moved to Arizona where she joined Tucson Church International under the direction of Reverend Demetrius and Angela Miles. She continued the act of giving by becoming a substance abuse counselor at the Marana Correctional Treatment Facility. Sister Theresa "Tinka" Crowe of Marana, Arizona departed this life on February 7, 2011. She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Shonn Crowe of Jackson, New Jersey, Gerald Crowe of Marana, Arizona and Tammy McCord of Mililani, Hawaii; one sister, Deborah Hall of Paterson, New Jersey; one granddaughter, Briana; and a host of great uncles, great aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, great nephews and great nieces.
