Mrs. A. Theresa (Cuqua) Cochrane, a resident of Malden, and formerly of Wilmington and Somerville, passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the age of 83.
Theresa was born on January 22, 1929, in Boston, one of three children of the late Carl Cuqua and Agnes T. (Walsh) Cuqua. She was raised and educated in Dorchester. She married the late David G. Cochrane and they settled in Somerville where they raised a family of three sons and a daughter.
Theresa worked as a supervisor at Sweetheart Plastics in Somerville for over 20 years. Raised in the Uphams Corner section of Dorchester, she was a strong minded person who valued her independence. She lived a faith filled life with the Catholic church and taught her children by example that family always comes first. She filled her life with joy by always being active, and surrounding herself with family and friends. In her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting, arts and crafts, and bingo.
Theresa was the former wife of the late David G. Cochrane. Devoted mother of James P. "Jim" Cochrane of Medford and his late companion Maureen L. Francis, David M. Cochrane and his wife Dottie of Somerset, John J. Cochrane of Hopkinton, NH, and Mary Cochrane-King of Salem, NH and her late husband Daniel T. King. Dear sister of Jack Cuqua of Arlington and the late Fred Cuqua. Cherished grandmother of Jessica, John, Jacqueline, Elizabeth, Amy, Eric, Daniel, and Kori. Loving great-grandmother of Halie, A.J., Leeanna, Mary-Kate, Erika and the late Kenneth. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Theresa's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, February 3 from 4-8 PM and again on Saturday morning at 8:30 AM before leaving in procession to St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
