MUNROE FALLS – Theresa Dolores Panella Mandala, 90, passed away October 20, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, a wonderful Mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmonther. She was born October 19, 1922, to Bart and Rafaella Panella in Akron and lived her entire life in the area. She was a men's and young men's department manager for O'Neil's (later May Co.) Department Store for many years, retiring in 1981. Theresa was also a founding partner in the family business, Alco/Mandala Products,Inc., she contributed much to its success. She loved cooking for people, especially her grandchildren, every small occasion was a reason for celebration. She made every holiday memorable. Her pasta dinners with her fantastic pizza and pies became legendary among friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony, her brothers, Guy, Tony, and Pat Panella and her son-in-law Pete Worthington. She is survived by her children, John Mandala, Vince Mandala, Bart (Marcia) Mandala, Luanne Worthington and Robert (Tricia) Mandala; fourteen grandchildren: Tara (Rick) Cerrito, Danielle (Michael) Cianciola, Jason Mandala, Gia (Michael) Shannon, Peter (Jamie) Worthington, Christina (Kevin) Petty, Anthony Mandala, Angela Mandala, Jonathan Mandala, Olivia Mandala, Jack Mandala, Christian Mandala, Ava Mandala and Henry Mandala. She was blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Nick, Joe and Gina Cerrito, Estella and Mason Cianciola, Allyson and Ben Shannon and Sophia and Olivia Worthington. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Amy Panella, Frances (Joseph) Schiavone and Eleanor Iacobelli. Her caring and kindness will also be missed by many loving nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Theresa loved her Cleveland Indians in good years and bad. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and especially liked playing slot machines at local casinos and almost always came home a winner. Theresa was a past member of Tallmadge AARP, Patterson Park Seniors and Our Lady of Victory Sponsi Club.

The family would like to thank the caring and professional staff of Mulberry Gardens and Crossroads Hospice.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday October 22 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday October 23 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1903 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Fr. James Singler officiating. Inurnment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Donation in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis TN 38101-9908.
