Our Heavenly Father has called home His soldier, Thomas Wesley Burroughs. Thomas was gifted to Earth on March 28, 1943. He was born to the union of the late Mr. Frank and Mrs. Bernice Burroughs. Thomas was affectionately known as "Tommy" to all who were near and dear. Tommy was baptized at an early age at St. James A.M.E. Church where his family attended when he was a child. Tommy was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools. As a teenager, he joined the United States Army where he honorably served his country; he was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War during his service. Tommy was honorably discharged from the Army in September 1970. He later began his career at Lincoln Industrial as a machinist until he retired. Tommy met Maggie Louise Burroughs whom he referred to as his one and only love. They married on July 16, 1976. They lived a happy and loving life for 35 wonderful years until Maggie was called home to be with Our Heavenly Father on August 13, 2011. Tommy was a devoted and loving husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother and friend. Tommy was the second born of 6 children. His brother Alvin is waiting for him to join him in Heaven, along with other relatives and friends. Tommy enjoyed barbecuing with family and friends, spending time with his grandchildren, making many trips to the grocery store in an attempt to complete Maggie's list that he never seemed to complete ("I gave you a list and you still can't remember"). Tommy fought battles of many illnesses until he surrendered his burdens to Our Lord and Savior as he laid into His bosom on December 7, 2011. He left a lifetime memories to be cherished by his 6 Stepdaughters – Cynthia, Priscilla, Angela, Vicki, Donyelle and Michelle; 4 Brothers – Frank (Deborah), Ronald, Vernon (Denise) and Anthony (Evelyn); 3 sisters in-law; 15 Grandchildren; 37 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandson – Kingston "Bing Bing", nieces, nephews and a host of cousins, relatives and friends; additionally his caring, loving and devoted best friends, James "Bubba" and his wife Lillie who have supported him dearly through his life's journeys.
