Army Emblem

Thomas Darrel Provstgaard peacefully passed from this existence, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family. Tom was born October 18, 1928 to Willis Christian and Irene Corbell Provstgaard of Payson. He graduated from Payson High School, then after graduation he was employed with Geneva Steel and later drafted into the United States Army and served honorably in the Korean War. Upon returning from Korea, he resumed his career with Geneva where he completed 44 years employment until his retirement in 1986.

He married his sweetheart, Arlene Otten on November 12, 1953 in the Manti Temple and treasured their 57 years together. They are the parents of seven children, 28 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. One of Tom's greatest joys in life was spending time at the family Cabin and in the outdoors among the wildlife and all his family. His infectious smile and loving personality was an icon in the community and will be missed everyday by his friends and family.

As an active member of the LDS Church he served happily in many varied capacities but a special place in his heart included the numerous full-time Missions he served with his eternal companion at the Provo Tabernacle, Provo Temple, Illinois Nauvoo Mission (2002-2003) and Provo MTC.

He is survived by: his wife Arlene; and their seven children, Randy (Sandra), Robert (Robin), Bradley (Julie), Todd (Becky), Denise (Mark) Simpson, Jana (John) Wilson, Jennifer (Justin) Hill; and his brother, Jack (Joyce) Provstgaard, all of Utah County. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arlene and the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the immeasurable love and compassion given by "Tom's Angels"; Bonnie, Paula, Korie and all of the A plus Hospice staff.

Funeral services will be held Monday June 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Payson Third Ward Chapel, 274 South Main St. Payson, Utah. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary 587 South 100 West Payson, Utah, or at the Third Ward Church 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
