Hester, Thomas E., 77, of Winter Park, FL passed away peacefully November 16, 2011, following complications of longtime illness. Born April 27, 1934 to Ernest and Nina Hester, new London, CT. HE grew up in New London and Quaker Hill, CT, graduated from New London High School in 1952, and later in life received his BS degree from Rollins College. He served honorably in the United States Air Force including a stint in Iceland, concluding his four year tour of duty at the Orlando Pinecastle Air Force Base in 1956, where he met and married Peggy Winslow, his loving and devoted wife of 54 years. He enjoyed a 32-year career with Southern Bell/AT&T Telephone Company, retiring in 1989. He had a love of scouting for years which he shared with this son. One of his favorite hobbies was building model airplanes and boats. After retirement he pursued his artistic talent for creating beautiful watercolor paintings. Tom was a loving and caring husband and father. In addition to his wife he is survived by son Alex Hester (Sheri), Honolulu; Grand-daughter Sara Palma (Jesus), CA; Great Grand-daughter Isabella Palma, CA; Brother-in-Law, Charles Winslow, St. Cloud; and three sisters, Nancy Stearns (Will), MA, Pat Bolger, CT., Shawn Schaedler (Jim), CT. Visitation to be held Monday, 11/21/2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Ivanhoe Chapel, 301 NE Ivanhoe Blvd. Orlando. Funeral service (Celebration of Life) to be Tuesday, 11/22/2011, 11:00 AM at Broadway United Methodist Church, 406 E. Amelia St., Orlando with Pastor Clare Chance officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tom's beloved Broadway United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.
