Mr. Thomas Franklin Spillman, age 71 of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away October 17, 2011. Tom was born in Paragould, Arkansas to the late Tyler and Naomi Pickett Spillman. He served two tours in Vietnam and retired after 20 years with the United States Army. He then retired after 22 years with the Georgia Department of Corrections. Tom was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Jackson and enjoyed being a gunsmith. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Betty Spillman of Locust Grove; sons, William Spillman of Milledgeville, Bobby (Candy) Safady of Jackson; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jeffery) Montgomery of Dublin, Marvin Safady of Atlanta, Thomas Safady of Yuma, AZ, Aaron Safady of Jackson, Hannah Smith of Barnesville; great grandchildren, Tabitha and Jeffery Montgomery. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Pete Page will officiate. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park with full military honors. Friends may visit the family Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
