Jonesboro – Thomas M. O’Connor, Sr., 95, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010, at St. Elizabeth’s Place.

He was born on September 15, 1914 in Jonesboro to the late Thomas Patrick and Sallie Miles O’Connor. He lived in Jonesboro for nine years formerly of Hot Springs Village and Memphis, TN. Mr. O’Connor was a 1933 graduate of Jonesboro High School, a retired accountant for more than twenty years with the Holiday Inns Corporation in Memphis and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He loved golfing, cooking, working crossword puzzles and enjoyed working Thomas Kincade jigsaw puzzles. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred Scott O’Connor; one son, Thomas M. O’Connor, Jr. (Renee) of Jonesboro; one daughter, Lynda Kay McElroy (Hershel) of Searcy; a grandson, Robert Scott O’Connor (Tricia) of Conway; a granddaughter, Tracy McElroy Stafford (Shane) of Covington, TN; a great-granddaughter, Courtney Stafford, four great-grandsons, Christopher Stafford, Cody Stafford, Ben O’Connor and Liam O’Connor and a niece, Kathy Lovett Buford (Tiger) of Memphis, TN.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Kathleen Lovett.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 2 p.m. at a memorial service in the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Patty Soward officiating.

Lasting memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 901 N. University, Little Rock, AR 72207

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
