On December 29, 2011, God in His infinite wisdom came down to claim one whom we all loved, Reverend Thomas Stewart, Jr. He quietly closed his eyes and answered the call to go live with God. Thomas Stewart's life began on July 1, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born the only child to Reverend Thomas Stewart, Sr. and Reverend Danella Waterford. He graduated from Sumner High School and then attended Harris Stowe State College. He entered the United States Armed Forces and later received an Honorable Discharge. He confessed Christ as His Savior at an early age and attended Morning Star Church of Truth, founded by his father. He then united in marriage in May of 1957. From that union they had six children, eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His love for Christ evolved into a powerful ministry in 1976 when he became Pastor of St. Peter's Christian Church, where he remained Pastor until his passing. He joined Christ on December 29, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. He leaves to cherish his memory: six children, Karen Daniels, Regina Looney (Darrell), Nanella Dozier, Sandra Stewart and Thomas Anthony Stewart all of St. Louis, MO, Glenn Nicholas Stewart (Jillian) of Phoenix, AZ; eighteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, one uncle, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. To know Thomas Stewart was to love him, he touched many lives, he was very giving, loving and an amazing pastor, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, son, and friend. It was a joy to be in his presence. He always had words of wisdom and encouragement to share. He loved to talk about the Bible and his Heavenly Father. He fought a good fight, finished his course and he kept the faith until the end. Now he has received his crown of righteousness which the Lord has given him. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed and it was truly a blessing to have him in our lives. This Online Memorial has been created to commemorate the life of Rev. Thomas Stewart, Jr. You are invited to add a Tribute in his memory. Please click "Sign Guestbook" below to add your own memories, reflections, thoughts or condolences.
