Thomas William Freeze died from cancer in the comfort of his home in Granger, Indiana on June 7, 2012. He was born to William and Helen (LaFave) Freeze in Mishawaka on June 29, 1927. On December 20, 1947 he married Donna LaVerne Weber. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Harold Snyder, and by his son-in-law, Jay Schreiner. He is survived by his wife, Donna, and their six children: Carol (Michael) Berry of West Chicago, Ill.; Gail Freeze of Granger, Ind.; Mary Beth Schreiner of West Chester, Pa.; Ellen (Dave) Conner of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; Tom Freeze of Denver, Colo.; and Julia (Lyndon) Azcuna of Buchanan, Mich.; ten grandchildren: Donna, Hannah, Julia, Sophia, Isaac and Samuel Azcuna, and Sarah Conner (Tyler) Dobelbower, Daniel, Anne and Kathlyn Conner. His first great grandson, Maxwell Dobelbower, was born in February. He is also survived by three other siblings: Carol (Bill) Hoel of Lafayette, Ind.; Vern (Betty) Freeze of Pottsboro, Tex.; and Robert (Harriet) Freeze of Mishawaka, Ind., as well as many Weber in-laws, nephews and nieces on both sides of the family. Tom graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1945 and then served in the army. He received an MBA from Indiana University and pursued a career in the animal health business. He retired in 1989, moving back to Mishawaka with his wife, Donna, for many years he was active in the Mishawaka High School alumni. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but loved skiing in the mountains of Colorado, especially with a group of friends from Charles City, Ia., where he and his family resided from 1957-1971. He was a member of First Christian Church in Mishawaka. While our family mourns his passing, we rejoice with the legacy of tradition, hard work and family that he has left us with and will continue to live on in our hearts and lives. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 12, from 9-11 a.m., at First Christian Church, 2511 East Third Street in Mishawaka. The funeral service will follow at 11.
