Brattleboro- Timothy R. "Tim" Wood, 52, of Brookside Drive died unexpectedly early Friday morning, June 17, 2011 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Tim was born in Brattleboro on June 1, 1959, the son of Roger and Bettymae (Burnham) Wood. He was raised and educated in Dummerston and was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 1977. He went on to attend and graduate from the Vermont Police Academy in Pittsford, Vermont. While growing up in East Dummerston he started working while a student in sixth grade until his high school graduation for Fred Holbrook, then owner of the Scott Farm. He later worked as a mechanic at Keats in Keene, New Hampshire. His first post in law enforcement was with the Windham County Sheriff's Department under the command of Sheriff William Graham. He later joined the Brattleboro Police Department as a patrolman and charge officer of the canine unit working side by side with the department's German shepherd "Rosco." At the time of his passing he was employed as a truck driver for Triple T Trucking in Brattleboro. For many years Tim served as a firefighter with the West Dummerston Volunteer Fire Department. The combined accumulation of his various jobs throughout the years fulfilled his future career goals and dreams of becoming a fireman, policeman and truck driver. Being mechanically inclined, Tim loved anything with wheels most notably Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He had a lifelong passion for Harleys and enjoyed riding with his soul mate and wife Lisa. The couple especially enjoyed trips to the Maine coast, one of their favorite destinations. For several years he was a member of the Brattleboro Shrine Club and the Cairo Shrine Temple and its Snowmobile unit out of Rutland. Tim had a warped sense of humor, a trait everyone loved about him. He was always on the go and never sat idle. He was a faithful and devoted husband, loving father, stepfather, grandfather as well as a friend to many. On July 22, 2007 in Canandaigua, New York he was married to Lisa Bellizzi who survives. Besides his beloved wife of Brattleboro he leaves his mother, Bettymae Wood Bond of Enfield, Connecticut, three children, a daughter Jenna of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and son Patrick of San Jose, CA and David of Jacksonville, N.C. four step-children, Jeff DeCelle, Eric DeCelle, Melissa DeCelle, and Kristina Lackard, one sister, Diane Saunders and her husband Alan of Bristol, VT, and one brother, Ernest Wood and wife Brenda of Dummerston. Additionally he is survived by seven grandchildren, Cooper, Collin, Garrett, Isabella, (known to Papa as "Mittens"), Jordan, Jaxson and Jaden, two nephews and several cousins. He was predeceased by his step-father, Harry E. Bond. A memorial service in celebration of Tim's life will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12:00 Noon at the Green Mountain Chapel on Western Avenue with Pastor Bill Steele officiating. In honor of Tim and prior to the start of the services a motorcycle run will start at 10:30 A.M. and make a tour throughout Brattleboro and the Dummerston area. All bikers are urged to meet just before 10:30 A.M. at Living Memorial Park on Guilford Street. Tim's urn will be transported on board a Tombstone Harley-Davidson hearse. The cortege will return to Living Memorial Park which is in the rear of the Green Mountain Chapel just prior to the start of the services. There are no calling hours at the funeral home.
