Joel Timothy Sherbert, Sr., 44, of 686 Southern Street, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his home. Born January 12, 1964, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Franklin Sherbert of Spartanburg and the late Sharon McCravy Sherbert. He was employed with J. Frank Blakely and a member of Beaumont United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt and work in his garden, and never met a stranger.

Surviving in addition to his father is his son, Joel T. Sherbert, Jr. of Spartanburg; a sister, Denise Mabry and her husband Michael of North Charleston; two brothers, Steve Sherbert and Rick Sherbert, both of Spartanburg; and his maternal grandmother, Ruth McCravey of Roebuck.

Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Floyds Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Beaumont United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. F. Ed Traxler, Jr. and Mr. Julian Roscue. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

The family is at the home of his father, Franklin Sherbert, 698 Southern Street, Spartanburg.
