Mr. T.O. 'Tommy' Mullis Sr. died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at his home in Ashford. He was 59.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hosea Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Mullis was born April 2, 1949, in Dothan, the son of the late John Olen Mullis and Runa Tolar Mullis. He was a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Webb and was a retired policeman from the Dothan and Eufaula Police Departments. He loved his work and was very dedicated to it. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a hero to many. Mr. Mullis was a lifetime member of the F.O.P.
Survivors include his wife, Berta Mullis of Ashford; daughter, Tamara Mullis Sumner and her husband, Nick of LaGrange, Ga.; sons, Tommy "Little Tommy" Mullis II of Dothan, Tim Mullis and his wife, Marley of Ashford; sister, Sara Lewis and her husband, Robert of Dothan; grandchildren, ElizabethAnne, Timothy Olen Mullis and Christopher Bohannon.
