Travis Morris Mathis June 11, 1929 ~ November 14, 2011 Funeral services for Travis Morris Mathis, 82, of Caldwell are set for 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2011, with Dr. Malcolm Bane and Rev. David Murphy officiating at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery, under the Pavilion. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011, also at the funeral home. Mr. Mathis passed away on November 14, 2011, at St. Joseph's Regional Health Center in Bryan. Travis was born on June 11, 1929 to Travis Mathis and Louise (May) Mathis in North Zulch, Texas. Travis was a Lifetime Member of both the Caldwell VFW and the Disabled American Veterans Assoc. Travis is survived by his wife Sara (Groce) Mathis of Caldwell, step-son and daughter-in-law; Larry & Nancy Hemenes of Georgetown, sisters and brother-in-law; Mildred Kuykendol of North Zulch, Sue & Joe Bob Crouch of Brazoria, Susan Mullen of Reno, NV, grandchildren; Lori & Jim Dowell, John & Wendy Hemenes, James & Mary Hemenes, great grandchildren; Zachary, Alexis, and Tyler Dowell, Madeline, Colby and Reagan Hemenes, aunt; Mildred Culver of Bryan, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and three half-brothers; Lemuel, Charles, and Bobby Drake.
