Truman Hines, 81, of Emerson, Arkansas died Saturday, April 17, 2010 in Emerson. He was born February 8, 1929 in Emerson, Arkansas to the late Luther Alvin and Jewel (Daniel) Hines.
Truman was a Mason, a “jack of all trades” and a “master of many” but will be most remembered for his articulate mastery of carpentry, and in particular cabinetry. A very well read man on many subjects, he enjoyed the company of his friend and neighbors. He will be most remembered not only for his outstanding carpentry and gardening but as a father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His delight in later years was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves many hand-made items to his descendants and a legacy that will be forever remembered by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Newton, Rudolph, Alvin, and infant Boyd Hines; and sisters, Edith Mae Pryor and baby, Melissa Hines.
Survivors are his wife, Eunice Hines of Emerson; son, Don Hines of Emerson; daughters, Barbara Johnston and husband Wayne of Haynesville, Paula Lafferty and husband David of Magnolia, Lisa Kersey and husband Edward of Magnolia; grandchildren, Matt Young and wife Lynn of Magnolia, Laura Justus and husband David of Tijeras, New Mexico, Keren Besler of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Martha Hines of Shreveport, Sarah Johnston of Haynesville, Lori Johnston of Haynesville, Cody Clark and wife Kadie of Waldo, Brandi Clark of Magnolia, Magen Williams of Magnolia, Abby Williams of Magnolia, Katherine Kersey of Forney, Texas, Thomas Kersey of Forney, Texas; great grandchildren, C.W. Young, Jordan Young, Dylan Justus, Caden Justus, Alexis Clark, Ashlyn Clark, Adelyn Carter, Bailey Eads, Katlin Eads; and numerous, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Lewis Chapel with Milton Murphy officiating and assisted by Bro. Jim Holdiness. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Pryor, Phillip Pryor, Chuck Hines, Dr. Chester Wynn, Charles Aldridge, and Steve Rowe.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Fund, 6400 Columbia 7, Emerson, AR 71740.
