Dateline: Charlotte Vade Peter Loftis, Jr., 81, of Charlotte, formerly of Gastonia, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Aldersgate in Charlotte. Peter was a native of Mecklenburg County and the son of the late Vade Peter Loftis, Sr. and Jessie Barton Loftis. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Friday, July 13, 2012 in the Chapel of Aldersgate, 3800 Shamrock Dr. Charlotte, N.C. 28215, with Reverends Karen Moore and Jessica R. Patchett officiating. The family will receive friends at Aldersgate immediately following the service. Inurnment will be private Peter retired from the textile industry, was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, member of a Masonic Lodge in Gastonia, Scottish Rite Mason and Oasis Shriner. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Jackson Fulbright Loftis, sons, Vade Peter Loftis, III and wife Patty of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Platt D. Loftis and wife Lori of Winter Springs, Florida, grandchildren, Taylor Loftis of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Connor and Katie Loftis of Winter Springs, Florida, sisters, Emily Peters of Kingsport, Tennessee, nephews, Pete Peters and wife Ann of Spartanburg, S.C., Tommy Peters and wife Mindy of Burnsville, N.C., Jimmy Peters and wife Donna of Charlotte, N.C. and Billy Hodgin and wife Marsha of Charlotte, N.C. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his youngest sister, Jo Hodgin. Memorials may be made to donor's choice. Condolences may be made on line to www.mcleanfuneral.com.
