Valerie Ann Peterschmidt Pilkington, 48, of Nauvoo, IL and formerly of Ft. Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at her home after a two year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born on August 27, 1961 in Ft. Madison, IA to Victor and Lydia Daniels Peterschmidt. On June 22, 1980 she married Joseph Bowen in Ft. Madison; they later divorced. She then married Rick Pilkington on November 26, 1991 in Carthage, IL. Valerie was a CNA at Ft. Madison Health Center and also worked at Armour Dial, Methode Electronics and the Nauvoo Mill & Bakery. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Valerie loved riding horses and spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, Rick Pilkington of Nauvoo, IL; two daughters, Brandy Bowen of Ft. Madison and Misty (Aaron) Nolan of St. Louis, MO; her mother, Lydia Peterschmidt of Ft. Madison; her granddaughter, Addison Bowen; her sister, Cindy (Jeff) Manning of West Point, IA; two step children, Marlo Pilkington of Keokuk and Brenton Pilkington of New York; two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Friends may call after 2 PM on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. David Wilkening officiating.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House or PAW Animal Shelter.
