Services for Vance Boling, 48, of Lubbock will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Sanders Memorial Chapel with Doug Hale officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sanders Funeral Home, 1420-Main Street, Downtown Lubbock

Vance was born October 27, 1961 in Lubbock. Vance married Laura McNeece December 9, 1982 in Lubbock. He loved to ride motorcycles and fish. He was a Scoutmaster for many years. Vance was a veteran Lubbock Power and Light employee. The city lost its most veteran meter reader on Friday, and many lost a cherished friend and family member. Boling had been with LP&L for 24 years and was the city’s lead meter reader. “That’s going to be a big void,” said his supervisor, Tracy Rollins. “He’ll definitely be missed.” Co-worker and friend Jason McMahan said Boling didn’t know a stranger and was very family oriented, especially talking a lot about his son and 1-year-old grandchild Cooper Wayne.

Survivors include his wife, Laura of Lubbock; one Son, Dylan Wayne Boling and wife Teri of Lubbock, his one grandson, Cooper Wayne Boling of Lubbock; his parents, Jesse Wayne and Rena Boling of Lubbock; and one brother, Craig Boling of Lubbock.
