Vassilka P. "Vessie" Hewitt, 86, of Little Rock, passed away November 4, 2011. She was born June 15, 1925 in Sofia Bulgaria to Petre and Petrova Popov. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, her husbands, James T. Horton and Claude Hewitt, and her beloved daughter, Melody L. (Horton) Lynch. Vassilka is survived by two sons, Robert G. Horton and James Thomas Horton. Other survivors include four grandchildren: Adrienne Hippolyte, John Reid Lynch, Emily Lynn (Lynch) Murray and William Peter Lynch. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Abbi, Olivia, Dinah, Asher, Lillian, and Rebecca.
She retired from being an audiovisual equipment and materials sales representative selling primarily to librarians in the Little Rock and Pulaski County School Districts. After retiring she moved to her lake house at Edgemont, Arkansas on Greers Ferry Lake, and thoroughly enjoyed living there. Vassilka was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed, but will always be with us.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 18th at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th Little Rock (501) 661-9111. Private entombment will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Mulberry Cemetery, Hwy 256 South, England, Arkansas with Father Patrick Barker officiating.
