LaVaughn "Vaughn" B. Rodelius, age 85, of Willmar, died Monday, January 30th at Bethesda Heritage Nursing Home in Willmar, MN.
Memorial service will be held Friday, February 3rd at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Willmar. Visitation will be Thursday, February 2nd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the church and one hour prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Willmar First Baptist Church Building Fund or Rice Hospice.
Vaughn was born April 14th, 1926 in Litchfield, Minnesota, the son of Lambert and Vivian (Schellin) Rodelius. He moved to Willmar with his family at age 7, graduating from Willmar High School in 1944. Vaughn proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946, serving in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. After returning from the service, he attended the University of Minnesota. Vaughn was united in marriage to Doris Jean Olson on September 30th 1950. Vaughn, together with his father, owned and operated Rodelius Ford Sales. He also was a salesman for Norling Brothers and Perkins Lumber Company until his retirement at age 80. Vaughn was known for his fairness and honesty in his business dealings, and his ability to visit and make friends with anyone. Vaughn was a devoted lifetime member of First Baptist Church, serving in many capacities. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his sons. Vaughn delighted in each of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them, teasing them and playing games.
Together Vaughn and Doris have six children, nineteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Vaughn spent his life demonstrating his devotion to God, his beloved wife, and his family.
Vaughn is survived by his wife, Doris, and children; Karna (David) Swanson, of Spicer MN, Kent (Kitty) Rodelius of Willmar, MN, Marty (Sharon) Rodelius of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Mary Jo (Greg) Smith of Shreveport, LA, Dan (Kathy) Rodelius of Maple Lake, MN, and Anne (Keith) Wheeler of Sweetwater, TN, his grandchildren, great grandchildren and five nieces and three nephews, besides other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents, one sister, Geva Lou Severinson, and an infant grandson, Andrew Daniel Rodelius.
