VEDA MARIE TANDY Veda M. Tandy died on April 26, 2011 in Vancouver at the age of 91. She was born on April 25, 1920 in Camas to Paul and Della Rainey. She graduated from Washougal High School in 1938. Veda worked in Real Estate for many years. She was also an accomplished homemaker and always had time for a game of cards or dice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Tandy, to whom she was married for over 56 years. Together they raised 3 children and also a granddaughter and 2 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Kane (who was killed in WWII), her granddaughter, Kimberly, her brothers, Donald Rainey and Kenneth Rainey and sister, Leola Hill Scott. She is survived by her daughter, Nicola Kane Brood of Vancouver and her two sons, Duane (Joan) Tandy of Lake Tapps, WA and Brian (Susan) Tandy of Vancouver; sisters, June Rainey of Vancouver and Barbara (Paul) Runyan of Camas; brother, Lauren (Mary Lou) Rainey of Beaverton, OR; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 7 at 1pm at the Camas Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at the Washougal Community Center. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice or to Hospice Southwest @ PO Box 1600, Vancouver, WA 98668. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Ashley Inn and Hospice Southwest for the wonderful care given to Veda during her extended illness.
