Mrs. Veda Wingate Tison Outlaw, 87, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Willson Hospice House.
Her funeral service will be Thursday, April 5, 2012 11 Am at First Free Will Baptist Church with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Billy Hanna and Rev. Mark Walker will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6 to 8 PM at Kimbrell-Stern.
A native of Worth County, Mrs. Outlaw had lived in Lee County since 1967. She was a devoted Mother, Wife, Sister, and Friend. She was faithful follow of Jesus Christ serving and worshiping Him through her beloved church, First Free Will Baptist Church on Westover Blvd. She served faithfully at her church for over 50 years and loved the Christian Laborers Sunday School Class. She retired from the Albany Herald as a bookkeeper and, before having a family, had served as the chief bookkeeper at the main branch of the C & S Bank in Albany. After her retirement Mrs. Outlaw enjoyed her many years as a volunteer with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. All of her life she was an avid gardener and especially loved tending to her collection of potted plants.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Tison, her parents, James & Essie Mae Wingate, her stepmother, Ida Lois Wingate, and two brothers, Marvin & Alton Wingate.
Survivors include her husband Charles Outlaw, Leesburg, daughters, Tina Cranford (Don), Pelham, Rena Brewer (Dan), Albany, son Tony Tison, Leesburg, brother, Stokley Wingate (Martha), Albany, a sister, Sarah Wingate Johnson of Newnan, GA, grandchildren, Ti Barnhill (Beth), Donnie Cranford (Lea), Sherrie Allen (Scott) and 10 great grandchildren.
