Vera J. Brown, 94, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Born in Lyons, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Benny Jackson and Georgie Davis Jackson. Mrs. Brown retired from Rex Mills after 35 years of service and attended Maylo United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brown; daughter, Joann Guy; son-in-law, Don Harkey; grandchild, Terry Guy; sisters, Alma Byrd and Vondell Snipes Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and David Rumfelt, Steve and Linda Stanford, Bobbie Harkey, all of Gastonia, and Junior Guy of Ranlo; brother, Nevils Jackson of Plant City, FL; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service for Mrs. Brown beginning at 11:00 AM Friday, April 27, 2012 in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors. The Reverend Laura Auten will officiate. Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gaston Hopsice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
