Vera Welchel Lafferty, 97, of 441 Tigerville Rd., former resident of Wenwood Circle, Greenville, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011.

Born June 12, 1914 in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Carrie Keeler Welchel.

She was a retired payroll clerk for J.P. Stevens and was a member of Augusta Heights Baptist Church.

Predeceased by her husband, Robert F. Lafferty, she is survived by two step-children and five nieces.

Graveside services: 11:00 AM Monday, November 14, 2011 in Graceland Cemetery, White Horse Rd.

Visitation: Monday, from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at The Mackey Mortuary.
